Monotones, duotones, tritones, and quin tones are multitone effects that modify an image’s tonal range to a strict number of inks or digital hues – they may be played against colour images (Image Sculptor) or B&W images, Monotone Master (sect 2). Photographers may use these techniques, to evoke nostalgic moods, create high – contrast artistic looks, or optimize images for specialty printing.
