Future Direction – Lumatic Lab

A QUICK UPDATE – we have joined forces with our sister site Alnessphoto to develop the Lumatic Lab, that will be a FREE, browser-based platform designed to simplify the complex world of photo editing by providing universal portability for visual adjustments. By utilizing AI technology, the application translates software-specific files—such as XMP, ACV, and GRD—into standardized Look-Up Tables (LUTs) that function across all creative applications.

This approach removes the need for beginners to master intricate color mathematics or manual tone curve adjustments, ensuring a consistent aesthetic on any device. Users can also generate custom colour palettes to further enhance their creative workflow without being restricted by software lock-in.

Ultimately, the tool functions as a technical translator, allowing creators to focus on their artistic vision rather than the underlying data structures. Consequently, the platform bridges the gap between different editing environments, making professional-grade consistency accessible to everyone from Chromebook Plus users to desktop professionals.

Alnessphoto will continue to create specific material to help casual and novice photographers in their quest for worthwhile locations and photo opportunities in Northern Scotland – including the NC500 whilst we focus on testing and releasing the component parts of the Lumatic Lab.

Keep coming back as we shall be regularly releasing apps from THE LAB
