Pulling the Highlights slider restores delicate water contours and spray patterns without imposing the dull, leaden veil typical of legacy processing algorithms. Simultaneously, gently lifting the Shadows slider illuminates shaded mosses and bedrock crevices without generating digital noise or compromising deep blacks, while precise adjustments to midtones and contrast restore clean three-dimensional depth.
Rather than relying on global saturation sliders that often cause harsh chromatic clipping across complex foliage, disciplined colour grading is best executed by transferring the workflow into the Effects tab.
Inserting a dedicated Color Enhancer filter isolates chromatic adjustments into an independent, non-destructive processing stage. This modular handoff enables photographers to bypass blunt global saturation increases entirely, keeping skin tones, delicate atmospheric gradients, and natural landscapes clean, neutral, and impervious to digital over-spill.
Within the Color Enhancer filter, targeted colour ranges provide surgical control over individual hues. By isolating the yellow chromatic channel and elevating its brightness slider, sunlight passing through deciduous foliage and lichens gains radiant luminescence without overcooking background grasses.
Similarly, addressing the blue and cyan bands allows deep mineral tones within granite boulders and distant mist-shrouded peaks to retain atmospheric density. Finally, fine-tuning green hue balance and saturation creates cohesive botanical separation, yielding natural organic balance throughout the entire woodland scene.
