Mastering Color Science and LUTs with LumaticLAB
Apply and pray is a strategy for many amateur photo editors. Unpredictable results can stall production so LumaticLAB LUT Analysis bridges technical color science and practical image-grading applications. By introducing LUT Tonal and Chroma analysis, a User replaces guessing with a scaleable, data-driven color grading and professional photo editing outcomes.
LumaticLAB LUT Analysis examines a common cube LUT locally in the browser. It can create a 1920 by 1080 infographic, a four-page A4 report, an enlarged diagnostic viewer, a structured AI prompt and a sort-able master CSV catalogue dependant on the User.

Understanding the tone curve
The tone curve plots input luma horizontally and LUT output luma vertically. The pale ‘pecked’ diagonal represents an unchanged response. A curve above that diagonal lifts the affected tones; a curve below it darkens them. A steeper section increases local tonal separation, while a flatter section compresses differences and can soften detail. The LEFT endpoint describes the black floor, the centre indicates mid-tone placement, and the UPPER RIGHT endpoint describes peak white and highlight roll-off. Look here for more on tone curves.
A plateau near either end can indicate clipping or strong compression. The graph is calculated from 101 neutral RGB samples and relative luma, so it describes the LUT itself rather than the histogram or dynamic range of a particular photograph. Channel interactions may make coloured subjects respond differently from the neutral curve.

Privacy Meets High-Performance Analysis
To ensure a secure editing pipeline, LumaticLAB LUT Analysis functions as a self-contained HTML file. Utilizing a desktop Chromium browser and the File System Access API, all processing remains local. No accounts or cloud uploads are required; your professional assets and master catalogue data stay private on your machine while maintaining high-speed browser-based performance.
